I think people that have a brother or sister don't realize how lucky they are. I agree. I think there are a number of disadvantages to being an only child. I, for one, struggle with controversy because I never had anyone to argue with. And I struggle to understand how my husband and his sister can argue one day and be fine the next. I just don\'t have experience with a lot of those types of situations.

I do know how lucky I am. I have seven of eight brothrs and four sisters still arounfd for support. I am a lucky man.

I have many brothers and sisters but my husband does not have any. We decided on a second child with the main purpose being a sibling to grow up with and hopefully be best friends and a great support to each other. Good words from the strangest place! LOL!
I have 4 half brothers and a half sister and not one of them has lifted a finger to help me either when I was out of work 5 years ago or now when I\'m out of work again. As a matter of fact Dad told me they were upset with me because I asked them for help. THEY were the ones who INSISTED that any time I need something I should ask. Well I asked. Guess that was the wrong thing to do.
I used to believe and was always taught that family would always help you when you needed it. What a crock. Maybe in OTHER peoples families, not in MINE. They won\'t even answer my emails. Family, what a cruel joke.
I\'m not the only one who feels this way. I have a friend whose two brothers won\'t speak to him and another friend who hasn\'t heard from his sister in YEARS (she abandoned the family)and who has a brother who always puts him down and criticizes everything he does. No help there either. Maybe it should read SOME families will be there for you others not so much.
