I suffer from depression and anxiety. Im very Self aware of it as I recognized it in my early teens. It’s a terrible disease. I try to live a healthy lifestyle to combat the sadness but there are just some days when nothing helps. My heart goes out to other people with similar feelings.
hi, depression and anxiety are 2 different things to me. Having been misdiagnosed for so many years from thyroid issues allowed me to see how an aware doctor and simple blood tests COULD HAVE saved me many years of anxiety and panic attacks. But that is in the past. There is nothing I can do about it now to change my past. As today, I find it a blessing that a doctor was able to find a solution to MY problem by identifying it as Graves Disease. And, that’s a good thing. I have been lonely and depressed and depressed about how my life turned out but that is all self-inflicted. Know that we all have choices in life. We can see life as a glass half full or half empty. On the other hand if depression comes from a chemical imbalance, then I suggest medication for anyone going through that. Sometimes, I look at life as a problem - not in a bad way but in a way that there are solutions. Many variables, some constants but choices we make to feel a certain way. We can go through life labeling our downfalls, our fears, all that negative stuff we love to chew on and re-iterate to ourselves over and over again. Sounds like a bad record album. Or, open your eyes to the wonders of the world. I can remember (when I was little) that when it snowed and I’d look up and see these delicate snowflakes coming down on my face and nose. And, how it sounded when I’d walk on the first layer of snow...squoosh, squoosh. Or, being caught in a rainfall and getting so drenched I could barely walk home but it didn’t matter because the boy I was talking to made it all the worthwhile. The taste of that cold water coming out of the fountain, right after I was playing stickball in the park. The hug that I got from my 88 year old dad, last Sunday. The smile and giggle from the little boy, who lives upstairs, who I heard crying last night. It’s the little things. There is a whole lot of bad things out there but I choose not to allow it in. We have one life to live, find the good in it. I send blessings and good fortune to whoever reads this post.
Ugh those spammers even come to team d.s to post their trash.
Please remove unless advertising escort services here is ok?
I do not know how this works. I thought it was kind of strange to see escort services in this forum. On my other forum, there are people reciting religious prayers, verse by verse. I do not know how they filter this out. I prefer being in a safe web environment without this nonsense.
Sometimes I just want to crawl into the corner of my closet because I am so overwhelmed with sadness. My medicine works most of the time but I do have an occasional melt down. I’m learning to live with it. I look at the positive things in life and the love of my two young grandsons keeps me going.
I have found that depression always seems to be there . Somedays are just worse than others. (For me at least) no matter what kind of meds I am on. I can feel good but my depression is still there i think because i am depressed about things I cannot change. And the domino effect of th e way my life has been going in a negative direction. I never rhought this stuff happened to people but boy was I wrong. I just constantly remind myself of the positives and hopefully get through my emotional baggage that has helped cause my depression! If all that makes any sense??!! Xo
I would never invalidate the way one feels.....but I hope that people should know that they have the power to make a choice. It’s called free will. When I was in therapy, trying to figure out why I was getting panic attacks and anxiety. I was taught how to breathe through the moments. Doing biofeedback and abdominal breathing and visualization was quite helpful. But, the funny thing was what my therapist said to me. When those negative thoughts come into your head, you can visualize turning a switch to off. Basically, saying, I was in control. When depression raises its head, know how to communicate with it and let go. We have a limited time on this planet, why waste your time wallowing in something that might be out of your control. Isn’t there a mantra from AA which says, “Allow me to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” Blessings and Wisdom to all!
I believe in free will Still learning, but at 64 years old I have discovered there are days when my free will can't discard the anxiety. I do keep busy and count my blessings, but at times I am just anxious for no reason. It's a terrible thing for many and my free will can't always win the battle. My heart goes out to everyone facing anxiety and /or depression. It's a fight no one needs to take on alone in this group. I do like the positive suggestions you offer, StillLearning. I do deep breathing and meditation.
I have been suffering depression back and everyone keeps saying have faith and their is a light at the end of the tunnel. I had gotten back on my feet, only to lose it all again. I lost my job due to all the drama that was going and I walked out. I am in a domestic violence relationship. She abuses me physically and mentally. I lost custody of 3 of my kids and have the other two. Which I let my sons father have my son for this semester. I am so lonely in my thoughts and so I turn to drugs knowing that is a temporary fix. You may think I am crazy staying, its not so easy to leave. Growing up I knew to love someone you had to beat them. My head is gone and I am losing myself.
Momster, I am 58. Would you allow me to suggest something......have your thyroid levels checked. (T.S.H., Free T3 and Free T4) The reason why I suggest this, is because I suffered for so long thinking I am nuts because of the anxiety and panic attacks I had. It was my thyroid, all along. (I was anxious for no real reason, either :-) If it is your thyroid, there are meds for that. I have been so much calmer the past 2 months. Finding out was a g-d-send. Take Care.
Thank you, StillLearning. I do take thyroid medication for hypothyroidism. My levels are checked regularly. It is something many overlook.
My biggest stressor is the loss of my husband 22 months ago. He was my best friend for 32 years. I'm learning to live a new normal. I have a lot to be thankful for, but the jolt his death left me with makes me wonder if I'm suffering from PTSD.
I hope you know how good it is to have someone like you on this list who is so open and cares about others.
I did too as a young person in my 20's and 30's until I found a good Naturepath Dr. Who detoxified me and cleansed me of candidas and got me off depression pills and other medications because my gut and liver were cleaned and my body was detoxified. So now when it's cloudy outside or I don't get outside, I take 50K of vitamin D. I haven't dealt with depression since then and I am 67 yrs old. A pure pro-biotic daily will clean out the gut. We make a homemade Kefier water and drink that several times a day, but all you need is one glass. So eating is the cure for most illnesses. What you eat and how you eat it. Walking brings oxygen into the body which burns cancer. Walking barefoot on the ground also balances out the negative/positive ions in your body. So all this healthy regime we learned to just do it when we were young has a great hidden health benefit that they just didn't explain very well to us. Best of luck to you.

Momster18,
I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how you feel, if not numb from this. Hang in there. If you need any advice of fixing things or doing the finances, let me know. This is the time to become self-sufficient - and you’ll feel better for it. BTW, in June, I will be married 25 years. I do not know what I would do without him. (I won’t tell him that - because on ocassion, he can be a big pain in my tushy - love him just the same ;-) I hope you have children or close friends to keep you busy and comforted. I have 2 Golden’s that are getting on in years - 13 & 14. I can’t imagine losing them - they are my furry children. (And NEVER a pain in my tushy ;-) Anytime, you want to gab - just whistle. Take Care.
