One's dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but it can never be taken away unless it is surrendered. Michael J. Fox

Sometimes when you are sick (physical illness) and depressed (mental illness) it is hard to believe that you can have dignity and self-respect, yet, without them, the sickness and depression wins daily and you become sick and more depressed and do not realize what you could have been had you realized that the situation is not permanent (there is always help with God) and also realized that dignity and self-respect come from within, not without (what other\'s say maybe interesting but never You!). You have dignity and self-respect through illness (both physical and mental) if you just take a moment to realize it!
When you suffer from a disease most Dr.\'s do not even recognize, you many times get depressed and overwhelmed but this quote \"One\'s Dignity may be assaulted (in Fibromyalgia you are constantly assaulted because you are in pain and cannot do what others can do.), vandalized (many of us who suffer from depression feel that was are constantly vandalized by others who have never walked in our shoes), cruelly mocked (having to take so many medications just to have a somewhat \"normal\" life, we are constantly mocked by people saying, \"It is all the medications you are taking that is making you ill. Throw them all away!\") This is not the time to listen to these people but to listen to God and your heart. Dignity can only come from God and self-respect can only come from your loving heart, mind, soul, and strength.
