These days, especially with social media, it's hard to feel close to those living immediately around us. In big cities, often neighbors living in the same building don't even say "hello" to one another. Suburban families can be seen shuffling to and fro without knowing the names of the people living next door.
If you find yourself feeling isolated within your physical community, try reaching out and being the first to extend an introductory hand. You may discover a feeling of closeness only a few doors away!
