Affirmation for July 5th, 2011: Flick on a Light

I suppose every child has a world of his own — and every man, too, for the matter of that. I wonder if that's the cause for all the misunderstanding there is in Life?- Lewis Carroll
Thought of the Day:
As adults and like children, we surround ourselves with big dreams and big fears. Whether it be wanting a shiny new bike or a shiny new car or to become the next superman or the next CEO, our dreams carry such a large weight in our hearts. Sometimes our fears as adults can be just as scary as our fears were when we were kids. The boogie man at night made us sleep under the covers with a flashlight but now that boogie man has taken shape in a more frightening disguise. Just like a child, these fears are blinding and keep us from being rational and often times stopping us from what we need or want to do. But after flicking on the light switch next to the bed, the monsters in our closets become just jackets, the boogie monster under the bed is just a couple of dust bunnies, and our fears become nothing more than bad dreams.
Life can throw us some scary curve-balls that can consume our lives and may cause us to hurt those around us. We just need to find that light switch to bring us back to reality and see that the Boogie man can't really hurt us. Remaining confident and grounded will defeat these fears or in the least keep them at bay while we face challenges rationally.
Good Luck!
