Affirmation for July 1, 2010: Cooking
One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. - Luciano Pavarotti and William Wright, Pavarotti, My Own StoryThought of the day:In today's day and age, most people can be separated into two different categories: those who cook, and those who don't. Those who cook enjoy the benefits of cost savings, home-cooked meals, cooking skills that are almost universally appreciated, and generally a healthier diet. Those who don't cook enjoy the ambiance of professionally designed and catered restaurants, a palette of international cuisine at their fingertips, and time saved not having to plan meals or go grocery shopping.Since both worlds have benefits, it would be wise to indulge in the best of both worlds every now and then: try staying in and cooking for a month if you are a chronic restaurant-diner. Plan to go to the grocery store every weekend for four weeks, and really plan ahead - research the ingredients to yummy recipes and plan when you'll be cooking what throughout the month. Be sure to take into account leftovers! Planning is key to the new cooker, especially if you don't have a cooking routine yet.If you are a daily cooker, try going out to someplace new once or twice a week for a month, depending on your budget. It won't impact your finances too much, and it would be fun to not have to cook for a night per week, and explore the cuisine your neighborhood or city has to offer!Have a delicious day!TeamDS
