Affirmation for February 18, 2015: Keeping Your Word
We must not promise what we ought not, lest we be called on to perform what we cannot.
- Abraham Lincoln
Thought of the day:Whether or not we keep our word can definitely make or break the respect we receive from others. It can also play a determining factor in your level of self respect. We should remember to not give our word where we know we can't honor it, even though you may really want to.
Today, let's work on keeping our promises and honoring our word to ourselves and others. Not only is it polite, it is the essence of our integrity. Have a wonderful day!TeamDS

Beautiful! Don\'t make promises we can\'t keep and more importantly never make a promise you have no intention on keeping. Great writing TeamDS
the other day someone gave some money to do something fpr her. I lost the money. I felt awful about it. I told myself I would pay her back with intrest. This situation really upset my a lot. I am so afraid of how this will effect how others think of me.
I was just talking with a counselor about keeping my word that I would do something. The counselor asked who the promise was too. I told her someone very close to me that is more of a \"hurt me\" person than a \"help me\" person. I realized that that \"hurt me\" person had demanded that I make the promise. Although the promise \"seemed\" okay I did not really want to do it. My counselor said that is why I have problems keeping my word. It\'s not \"my word\" but his! If he really respected me, he would ask what I thought about doing it! My counselor said that I had been teaching this person to treat me this way by not establishing the proper boundaries and not taking self-care (not selfishness). Pray for me as I pray about how to teach him gently how to treat me with the respect that I desperately need.
