Affirmation for December 28, 2012: Forgiving for the New Year

You will know that forgiveness has begun when you recall those who hurt you and feel the power to wish them well. Lewis B. Smedes
Thought of the Day:
As 2012 passes and 2013 arrives, we are given the blessing of leaving the past behind us and the opportunity to start fresh. This goes for our missions of self improvement and the relationships that have changed in the past year.
At times it's easy to find ourselves ruing over the mistakes of our past and feeling sad over the relationships that were effected. But don't let yourself fall into this hole. The new year is a great time to take that step to forgive the past and move on to our futures.
Start the New Year with a genuine smile!TeamDS

Almost six years ago, when the Divorce from Hell was finally final, my therapist shared this pearl of wisdom with me. She said, \"Forgiveness begins when you STOP wishing for a better yesterday.\" She was right.

Something else I learned is that FORGIVENESS does NOT diminish the the crimes the X had committed against our marriage; nor was there ever any need for me to TELL him that I had forgiven him.

Forgiveness is a GIFT that you give to YOURSELF!

Well said, Kathi. Forgiveness is freedom from the bondage of resentment.

Have a happy new year...and peace be with you.
