Affirmation for December 23, 2011: Self Confident in Our Community

Instead of comparing our lot with that of those who are more fortunate than we are, we should compare it with the lot of the great majority of our fellow men. It then appears that we are among the privileged.Helen KellerThought of the Day:There are times when we feel discouraged by those successful people at the top of society. They have so much and seem to hardly struggle as we do. We feel so small working hard for a fraction of the gain. The truth is, we don't know their stories as they don't know ours. Who is to say who is on our level? When we measure ourselves with others like us, we can see that we are not that different from a large percentage of our community. We all have gained knowledge through personal experience and with that knowledge we can share with and educate our peers. We share stories and wisdom and nothing is more valuable than that.It is in this frame that we appear, to ourselves and our groups, to be the heads of our communities.Have a Great Day!TeamDS
