Affirmation for August 5, 2011: The Magic of the Movies

I think cinema, movies, and magic have always been closely associated. The very earliest people who made film were magicians. - Francis Ford Coppola
Thought of the Day:
Pictures began as black and white film accompanied by a pianist; then they evolved to Talkies - when actors and speech were put together; and now, today, they indulge our senses and calling themselves "4-D." Since the first Motion Picture, movies have been capable of inspiring our emotions, conjuring up tears and laughter and exposing our natural tendency to sympathize with others.
Movies also hold magic in transporting us from this world of reality to a world of make belief, allowing us to escape the hustle and bustle of our days for a couple hours.
Lastly, film extends itself to home video: the short where we first tested the camera, random video logs, trips with the family, the wedding, their first steps, their first game, etc.
All of these movies can breathe life to memories, thoughts, and emotions that would have otherwise remained in our minds' eyes. Take a minute today and appreciate the magic in film - whether it be creating one or admiring one already made. Nolstalgia or simply a reason to let out some tears may bring a couple of hours of peace in your day and closure to a crazy week before we all hit the weekend.
Lights, Camera, Action!
