Affirmation for April 7, 2011: Survival

Damaged people are dangerous.  They know they can survive.- Josephine HartThought of the day:In Chris Cleave's novel, Little Bee, the heroine talks about the beauty of scars and sad stories. She tells the reader not to think of scars as ugly, but as beautiful, because they are marks of survival and strength. And not to be sad about a sad story, because the very fact that you are hearing it means that the storyteller survived to tell the tale.Inner strength and drive to survive are the sources of human history's great heroes, which means that we all have great heroes within us.Our hearts go out to the people of Japan who have just experienced another earthquake. May they find the strength to overcome their adversity.TeamDS

The most dangerous people are the people who don\'t care about themselves because they don\'t care what consequences befall them.

I enjoyed reading this journal entry today. I find it to be true and encouraging. I think I would like to read that book about the beauty of scars some time. A determined attitude and the spirit to keep going when life knocks you down is what makes a person a champion.

I have had my share of hard times and tragic events in this life and I am still here to tell my story and that means a lot to me. Thanks for sharing.
