Affirmation for April 3, 2013: Changing our Approach

When one door closes, another opens. But often we look so long, so regretfully, upon the closed door, that we fail to see the one that is opened for us.- Helen Keller
Thought of the day:
Leave yesterday's woes behind. Today is a new day, and a new opportunity to think differently about how you tackle the problems you will face, and also how you will celebrate the things that are endearing to you. Sometimes just changing our approach can make a big difference in the amount of headache-situations we encounter in our lives.
So go ahead, rejuvenate in this new day. And approach the next 24 hours as you would like to approach the rest of your life. Each and every day we spend on earth is a new chance for something better.
Enjoy today!

My spin on the quote behind today\'s affirmation is a little different.

\"God doesn\'t close one door without opening another -- but sometimes, it\'s Hell in the hallway.\"

Keeping our eyes focused on what is yet to come and keeping our hearts open is what gets through that Hellish hallway. If we keep looking back, we are apt to stumble and fall -- making it even more difficult to go through that new open door.

I often tell the folks here on DS to \"keep your faith in yourself and your faith in God\" -- those were the KEYS for me when I was going through a contentious divorce almost 8 years ago -- but those are also the keys for navigating life on an everyday basis. Faith. It\'s what sets us apart. It\'s what keeps us sane and sustains us in difficult times.

Just my two cents.
