Affirmation for April 19, 2010: Brian Weir

In order to be walked on, you have to be lying down.- Brian WeirThought of the day:This quote brings to mind a simple truth - one only needs to sit up, stand up, start walking, keep going, in order to avoid being overwhelmed with your challenge. The only way you can lose a struggle is when you stop trying.

This calls to mind the story of a young boy and his father who loved to go to the beach. The young boy had a mental disability, but he absolutely loved the water. One day, both were in the ocean and a storm came rolling through. The son thought it all a game, and didn't realize the danger they both were in. The father, seeing this, was determined to keep up the son's spirit and kept a smiling face and pretended this was all a great game.

The father and the son were slowly separating, and began to drift uncontrollably further and further away. The father kept yelling joyfully to the son, whom he could not see anymore, and felt his strength giving way. Just as he was about to give up, both from the cold and muscle fatigue as much as grief for his lost son who was surely drowned by now, a rescue boat came by and picked him up.

When he asked about his son, the rescue team told him that his son was rescued, safely ashore, and completely fine. He was missing his father, but otherwise happy and healthy. He didn't even seem to realize how close he came to drowning.

Have a lovely day!TeamDS
