Affirmation for April 1, 2013: Understanding
Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding.- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Thought of the day:
It's strange how we sometimes feel that if we fight through our troubles and misunderstandings, we will somehow find peace eventually. While this may be true, it will take a longer time to find that resolution through angry words and obstinate positions than it would through listening, patience, and empathy.
Next time you find yourself on the opposite side of a loved one or embroiled in a conflict, try to transcend your emotions and disengage from attack and aggressive behavior. If you first put yourself in the other person's shoes, you may find that expressing yourself in terms of their point of view will end the dispute much more quickly.
Have a peaceful day!

Well said....By coming to my H in this manner was the only way I was able to get him to open up and be honest with me once and for all....if I had come to him in anger, hate and meanness of the situation (Which is exactly how I felt) he would never have been honest with me and we would still be going round the carousel with this situation. It is much easier to talk about these things when we are calm and trying to understand each other rather than when we are jamming ourselves down each others\' throats...It\'s hard to do, but the payoff is worth it!
