ADVISE Needed
I have been concerning starting a Support Group in my home town...We don't really have anywhere to go.....we have CF, but one meeting a month....the time it starts is not really good...
Lots of people say that I an do a support Group....I don't know....What would you guys suggest....
I think without this site at DS/FOR MOMS ONLY...HAS BEEN MY LIFE LINE THESE LAST 18 MONTHS....Thanks to Barbara for her journey...
I just wonder if I am strong enough yet...don't feel I am...I have lead co-dependant groups through the years...
But...this is different...I feel there is a need for someone to be available right NOW...that is a big committment...
We have faced, us moms, the worst pain a mom could ever feel...nothing could hurt me deeper than I have been hurt...So many mom's just need someone to understand...cry..lean on...face to face....Yet the only ones I have is all of YOU>..
All of YOU are walking with me every second of the this most devestating journey in our lives....
When I was in the hospital, after surgery, Ken visited me every night for three night....we conveyed to each other...no words were spoken... I kept wanting to know why he had to go...mom's go first and he would convey to me:
God has something he wants you to do....Am I strong enough? I don't know...
What does my: CYBER FAMILY THINK AND SUGGESTIONS.....

Sandi, trust that the answers you seek are within you. I really think that if you are feeling any hesitations, doubts... that perhaps the intention is so very positive yet the timing may be off? We are each wounded healers and in the sharing of our wounds we heal and so I believe in time this may be an incredible avenue for you to seek. I do know that in Al-Anon and AA they generally suggest that you not become a sponsor until you have two years of the program under your belt. I know that I did not return to my chaplaincy work until last May (almost three years after my son\'s death) because I could not be present to patients, families and staff in crisis situations until I had done my \"crisis\" work on myself. I think it is wonderful that you are thinking about this, searching, seeking and I know that whatever you choose it will be what is right for you at this time. Hoping your Sunday is a gentle one. Hugs, Joanie
Sandi, I agree with Joanie, maybe it\'s to soon. Follow your heart and your guts. Hugs and love Marcia
Sandi, it is so hard to say but I do feel for me, I would not be ready yet to do something like that. To reach out yes, to pass out FMO information yes, maybe to even assist at a Compassionate Friends meeting but for me I am not ready to lead anything. As Ed\'s 2nd angel date approaches (9/4) I am again feeling quite fragile. I do think you are the expert on your own situation so allow your inner voice to lead you and when I am not sure of what to do I pray and wait for God\'s lead. I have faith in you and I know you will make the decision that is right for you. Have a good day. Love to you and Ken, Linda
Sandi: I think it is a great idea. If you feel in your gut that you can handle it. then go for it. I am wondering if there is something less formal you can do - like have a couple of moms over for coffee. Something less daunting but comfortable for you.
I can relate to Linda. Lisa has been in heaven for a year and a half and there are still days that I can\'t function. Follow your heart.
Hugs, Marlene
Sandi, I agree with those who posted that perhaps it is too soon. BUT you can try to make changes in the Compassionate Friends group in your area. I, like you, had a CF group in NJ, that only met once a month. Sat in folding chairs in a circle and heaved collective sighs. I did not return. Now, here in FL, I have been in contact with another CF group. This group has a \'meeting\' once a month but in between, barbeques and such. Seems there is always something going on. Sadly, it seems whenever there is an event, my dog, Twinkie, has some issue and I\'ve not been able to attend. I rarely leave him alone (and my next journal will explain why) and the woman who runs the group was mauled by a dog and does not welcome dogs (even precious Twinkie!) in her home. But this group does seem to be different! More get togethers, more pot luck dinners, more of everything.
Think about this!
LOVE,
Soos
I think when the timing is really right, you won\'t question, you will know with a peace and understanding and excitement for your next opportunity. I agree with Joanie that this may well be the direction you are to take, yet perhaps the timing is not yet???? A commitment this large would be exhausting. Please gift yourself with careful consideration, prayer, and some more time for your own healing. You do have a gift, and paying it forward, I feel, is your nature, but there is a beauty in timing which can not be rushed. I would suggest you do as Marlene says and continue here and begin on a small scale with moms in your area and see where it takes you. Barbara started FMO to help 10 moms stay connected. It grew because it was the right time... It continues because the time , thought, prayer, and 100% commitment was made by
Barbara, and because she moved in love after prayer, and at the right time, all of us find ourselves knowing the rightness of it, and therefore making the same commitments to grow FMO and help in our own unique ways. I love you and know you will find the perfect fit in what, how, and when!
Some good advice already, Sandi. As you know, I have been struggling with this type of thing and all I will say is take it to the Lord. He will let you know....and you will know when it is right. God bless....love, dale...brandon\'s mom
I agree with Terri and the others, if you have a passion to do it then the time is right, if not then maybe you should wait a little. Let us know you decision. Sending love...Terry
I understand the need is out there. Is there a hospice organization near you? They would be a place to start. You may be the instagater but not the leader... Have someone who knows how to get things going in the right direction. Frequent meetings are good for the soul. Once you feel the time is right you can take a more active roll. If the need is there it would be a worthy cause to check into Also talk with the Pastors of the local churches. It could follow the saying \" IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME\"
I know in your heart you will find your answere.
Love Penny
Just sending you a hug, Sandi! I am so confused myself on my own journey and have nothing to offer but love! Belinda
