ADULT Finger Painting
OK, I suggested to someone that finger painting is a plausible outlet for stress as is coloring books with a big 64 box of Crayolas. WELL, YOU JUST AIN'T GONNA BELIEVE WHAT I DID THIS TIME! ROFLOL Then, again, if you know me, you won't be shocked. My son has been bugging me to repaint his room. Well, with the kitchen taking me 1 month, getting some virus, changing of meds, my health went to the sewer. I thought PAINT YOUR ROOM? Shoot me! However, finally, enough energy seeped into my half dead body and we chose a beige paint and against my usual self, I allowed hubby to help and son as well. They PAINT which is to say, not neatly as I do, and I p-a-i-n-t. Anyway, I was happy just to get to do the marblizing effect my son wanted and chose to ignore the PAINT experience of father & son. I was supposed to use a brush for the marbling technique however, found it much more beneficial to use my fingers to add & blend! ROFLOL SO YES I DID SO TO FINGER PAINT THE FAUX FINISH! Man, what fun sticking my fingers into that paint and doing the marbling technique! FINGER PAINTING ADULT STYLE! Thank God I got done before hubby got home to stop me. ROFLOL Oh, yeah, I keep him on his toes! SO FINGER PAINTING IS FOR ADULTS AND CAN BE USED ARTISTICALLY FOR REDECORATING!

Great therapy....I use my fingers sometimes it\'s the only way to get the effect you want. I once learned how to marble with a goose feather!

Please tell me how I can do something easy with my hands and paint on the walls that is still easy on the eyes. I\'m not artistic at ALL, but really need the realease of tension. The walls really need painting and I\'d rather scream to the ends of the earth than use a brush or roller and all that that detailing. HELP!
Dear SEEDER - I keep an \"art therapy journal\". Now, this requires NO ART ABILITY as art is truly just expressing your inside onto something. Heck my home office I think is in my photos with RAFFIA borders! Yep, hubby freaked. ANYWAY, back to the journal. I draw symbols or colors or paste stuff with texture in there to express my emotions. God knows we are very pent up people being unable to do whatever it is that we wish or need to do.
Now, my idea is this...think outside \"traditional\" box of what a room is to be painted like. For example. We are considering doing my two sons bathroom in MUSIC THEME. We will paint of course and I have some old LP\'s that I will use somehow or other in the theme, etc. The toilet lid will be painted to look like a giant LP or possibly just some music notes. This could be done with the fingers as it is large and really just circles (the LP and the record label and the little hole is the toilet lid showing thru). See, it\'s not that we CAN\'T necessarily we just must think outside what is \"normally\" the way it is done.
You could splatter paint which is basically just slinging paint onto the walls for an effect or do as I did above and make squiggles with your finger to imitate the veins in the marble. Try it on poster board first to see what you like. OH AN SPONGES TORN ON THE EDGES MAKE GREAT TECHNIQUE FOR COVERING! Use a giant car kind with lots of sponge holes and the add some tears or gouges! I did the bathroom like that and got lots of complements. Just turn the sponge in various positions and places. Look up FAUX FINISHES to get ideas.
