Adoption final

Well, what a year we've had.  We were looking for a foster to adopt child between the ages of 8 and 12, were willing to take siblings as long as same gender because we only have 1 bedroom readily available.  We're not young, I just turned 60 and my husband is 53.  We both have grown children of our own and grandchildren.  As soon as we were done with our foster training we were offered 2 brothers, not quite 2 and not quite 3.  There was no bio family involved.  We were told the 3 yr. old may have some problems, possibly autistic although the caseworker didn't think so, he did have some heavy duty tantrums and real problems transitioning from 1 activity to another and was mostly non-verbal.  Well 9 months later I'm happy to say we've adopted them and they are both thriving. It took a lot of time and patience but they are so worth it. And it turns out the 3 yr. is pretty darn normal. Speech is great, no therapy needed.
