Adding Telephone Meetings

I attendedmy firsttelephone Overeaters Anonymous meeting tonight... I made some notes in case anyone is interested in looking into OA. OA is only part of what I'm doing for myself. I'm still listening to the videos and look forward to getting the kit with the CDs of all the videos and gleaning what is good for me. Since it is now 12 midnight... got 3 days on task... going to bed soon so I don't mess up... LOL

OA meetings telephone available every day your time 8p.m. I actually think the meetings may start 8pm EST and I'm in the CST Phone # 712-432-5200 Pin no. 4285115# Dial number and wait for automated voice and enter the PIN number including pound sign. When open sharing, if you want to share enter *1 to unmute and the *1 mute

Ifeel good about attending no matter what time it was as its a positive actionfor achieving my goal of yes losing weight... but just as important... dealing with theaddiction that has driven me for most of my life. I'm using a lot of different ideas... as long as they're sound and healthy and helpful... they're in...

Outreach Calls What are outreach calls? Outreach calls are calls to ask for information about questions you may have or maybe just to share... The following people said they are available for Outreach Calls.
Ann 917-396-0806 I think she said CST... maybe just make sure you don't call too early or too late... like say 10am to 4pm
Jackie 718-667-3907 EST 12noon till 2am I don't know... maybe she works a nightshift where she can field calls... but I'd be hesitant to call after like 8pm

Questions I want to ask my sponsor tomorrow.
Where do I start?
Is there a Big Book for overeaters or do we just buy the one for recovering alcoholics.
How long does it normally take to complete each step.
Step 1. Admitting that my overeating is a problem and that I cant fix it by myself.

Facing the Problem
The beginning of recovery is acknowledging that there is a problem involving food, that there is help outside oneself, and the willingness to utilize it. This also represents the very beginning of trust in something beyond oneself (such as a therapist, sponsor, or the program), and the opening up of a closed family system. Invariably, it takes years to face the problem.
With growing understanding of the problem, denial further thaws. In Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over food that our lives have become unmanageable.1 The addict begins to understand she or he is powerless over the food, and the codependent begins to understand that she or he cannot control the substance abuser. The struggle not to overeat and the codependents vigilant watching the addict begin to slip away. Gradually, attention starts to shift from the substance, and, for the codependent, the substance abuser, to focus on oneself.

It sounds like you are really committed. I like the OA approach. I have always believed that over eating was an addiction not a character flaw.
Wishing you success my friend.

Being a food addict myself, I understand how hard it is to start a program or diet. I am very proud of your dedication. You go girl!!
