Adding a Horn Section

Played more music last night at the bookstore. This time brought amps and a PA, as last week, with a bass and tenor sax in the lineup, both the acoustic guitar and vocals were not loud enough.  So last night, the line-upMe - acoustic guitar, vocal (me singing is not great but it is fun)Moe - bassKris - tenor saxHolly - alto sax Then later Holly had to leave, and Jessica showed up, who plays acoustic guitar, and also sings. So with Jessica we play more praise music, and it was beautiful, the 2 guitars, and her voice, like an angel.  Holly just started playing in January. But she is more than a beginner.  We played a song, then worked out the horns, not on paper with charts like they teach in school, but in our heads. I told them where I thought the riffs should go, then suggested the notes, and we did these great harmonies, with me picking the guitar, Moe playing the fundamental on bass, and the horns playing 3rds, 5ths, 7ths, it really sounded great. We worked out 2 songs, start to finish, good enough to play a live show or record.  The first, the old Blind Faith song, 'In the Presence of the Lord", and the second, a song I have recently written solely for guitar, but adding bass and horns, made it a much stronger song.  So it was fantasitc. So we have agreed to continue meeting on Friday nights to learn more songs and to see where this can go. Whats weird, I'm old, and then these 3 teenagers, but hey, its fun for us all, as well as the people who come out to hear us.
