Addictions past

During college:
My one and only vice (still can't kick it) Caffine!  I was working full-time (40+), going to school full-time (20+), and trying to have a social life... Doesn't leave much time for sleep!  I was working in a resstaurant, I had access to unlimited soda. I would imbibe approximately 2 Gallons of Mt. Dew, daily! Thats about 4 (2 ltr bottles), or just under a case of 12 oz. cans. [I am now down to about 2-3 cups of coffee, I try to avoid soda as much as possible.]
But, I finished my AA in Graphic Design in 15 months.
After college:
Not suprisingly, I was a little high strung. I'm sure primed for an early heart attack, too. Between the stress of finding a job in my field, actually working, and a caffine habit to "feed". I needed to "chill out"!
So.... my GF at the time smoked weed. She "introduced" me to it. I had friends in HS that smoked, but it wasn't my thing at the time. By the time she left me (on the 4th of July) My roomie and I were smoking about an ounce a day. We had the "connections" we didn't really spend that much $$. That and we'd buy it by the pound. (For those that don't know, that's ALOT. roughly a gallon size zipper bag - stuffed to the gills)
The GF also introduced me to "hallucinogenics".  LSD, mushrooms, peyote. She was kind of a "modern" hippy at that time. We would have philosophical debates while smoking weed. Watched movies or meditated while "tripping". Mind-expanding experiences. I have always been "sensitive", ever since I was very little, but this just made everything more defined. Easier to connect with the "global consciousness".
Fortunately, for me, I was never caught by the authorities. But, I finally took a "step back" and looked at my life and said "WTF am I doing?" I got my "Sh**" together and got myself out of the situation. I was ready to stop, so..... I did. Cold Turkey.
I have not smoked or "dropped" in 14 years.
