ADDICTIONS!!!
Addictions are everywhere. They really are! Currently I am addicted to my wife, junk food, McDonalds, coffee, and working like a crazy person!
Not all addictions are created equally. I love my wife and will never try to end that addiction. Coffee is borderline. Junk food is bad, but I have no issues with weight so its hard to see the effects it has on me, I just feel like garbage when I eat it. Working lots sucks but I must pay off the debts I have accumulated from 10 years of gambling.
I arrested my condition on October 5th 2011, so I am over 2 years recovering. But i never ever ever want to go back to that life so I am on here for continued motivation and inspiration, and to hopefully help others with my story. We are all addicted to things, but you need to choose which ones are right for you and which ones are not. Junk food is bad for me but I dont lose much sleep over it (yet lol). My life has been on a major upswing since I was able to stop gambling. I have paid off over 50 thousand dollars in debt and just bought a condo with my wife last year.
I think the other addictions like coffee and junk food honestly keep me focused on not gambling. I need to have some way to let off steam. I never drank a lot of coffee until I quit gambling. Its now like that thing I do everyday to give me a little perk, and it is way less harmful than gambling.
Does that make any sense at all?
I go to GA as often as I can (almost every week unless work gets in the way). GA and the people there have been a big help for me, as well as the love and support of my wife. Please, if you are a compulsive gambler, GO TO MEETINGS!
Nice to be on here, hope to meet some of you and chat. I will write more later I'm sure.
