Adapting
I am going to miss my Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group. The intensity with which I already miss it highlights my need for a regular gig outside my magic half acre.
On the first day of group we were all invited to select an issue on which to focus during the 10 sessions. Mine began as trust and grew into fear of entrapment. I am currently treating the entire state of Texas like a trap and am willing to chew off my own foot to spring the trap. My loved ones feel like prison guards uniformed in their united need to keep mama available to their lives. Or, so I metaphorize the complex fabric of our shared lives.
"The Gilded Cage" is the metaphorical title for the trap I so fear. I am loved and cared for. I am well respected and encouraged within my cage. I am knot free to leave my cage. My soaring on the wind is painful to those who love me.
Pulling myself back from poetic longings, my simple truth is that I do not have the money for my road trips. The family debt is sufficient that it will be a goodly while before the money becomes available. I have not been willing or able to commit to travel jobs. I remain stubbornly focused on the Mississippi River Valley projects.
