Accumulation

Its amazing what I can accumulate.  I found this out this morning while searching for the latest car insurance I.D card.  The old one lapsed in June.  There are 6 places in my house that accumulate stuff.  The couch just inside the front door is the worst.  All the mail stops there or if its a bill, lays over for a while since I like to write them all at the same time.  But, along with the bills, are the AARP magazine and newspaper, along with chances to buy all kinds of insurance.  There are letters from my car insurance guy wanting me to add policies, seasonal greeting cards, birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.  There's the usual junk mail and bank statements.  The bills are separated into a stack that lays on the top of the couch, while the rest falls down to the cushions.  During the winter, coats, jackets, windbreakers, and hats and caps end up laying on the arm and cushion.  The kitchen table gets its share of stuff,,,plastic grocery bags, pot holders, towels, dog treats and any cooking or storage stuff I don't have room for anywhere else or might be using soon enough not to be put up such as a plastic container for my tuna or chicken salad and my coffee maker.  An occasional tool or cleaning spray might find a temporary home there too.  The floor beside on the right of the recliner gets newspaper circulars that are supposed to be thrown away after a short time which may mean a week or more.  The left side gets the newspaper that has been scanned over and will be taken to the bath room for full reading of the articles I've noticed.  These 2 places are being fazed out due to Kit's love of eating paper.  The end table next to the recliner is the messiest.  I have a bad habit of eating my meals in the recliner, so napkins, cups, glasses, plates, bowls, and paper towels that held the food end up there.  A box of tissues stays on the table along with reading glasses, and material about special offers that I want to read later.  The computer tower gets some stuff too,,,parts of old bills, manuals, and a plastic bag of batteries.(Why the batteries have stayed so long, I don't know.)  And, last but not least, the computer table that has things I have and will scan, bank book, and bits of paper, full size pages or strips that I save in case I need to write something down.  I know.  I'm a mess.  And don't even ask about the drawers in the end tables.  Now, where did I find the cards?  Logically, they would be on the couch.  But, I'm not logical sometimes.  They were at the bottom of a stack of stuff on the end table.  The search was very useful in that a lot of stuff got thrown away,,,,about a 13 gallon garbage bag full.
