About the owls
Saw last night online that Johns Hopkins is doing research on barn owls and it is gruesome. They are torturing and killing these beautiful creatures in the name of junk science. Most of the info is on PETA. I have never actually liked PETA. I can't stand the horrifying pictures they post on their site. Some people don't need to see that to act. It's actually off putting for some people like me. Also, they are really hard to get in contact with.
I started to call around some places to see what I could do. One rapture rescue in Maryland, PETA, Best Friends, got some contact info for Johns Hopkins, wrote a letter... then I got tired. I'll keep at it for awhile. PETA is apparently working on it.
What really needs to change are the laws. It's so hard and so discouraging. I'll post a link if anyone is interested. I guess writing letters and signing petitions couldn't hurt. Here's a link for some info:
Johns Hopkins Confines Owls to a Basement Laboratory: Take Action Now! | PETA
I know this is really depressing but I think people should know about it. I don't think owls are any better than any of the other animals that are being exploited. But these are actually a protected species. It's unbelievable what these assholes are getting away with.

This is terrible news, but yes, thanks for sharing. This needs to stop. We shouldn't test on animals, period. Ever. If a human won't volunteer then I guess we should skip it.
I absolutely agree. I think it's insane that it's legal to test on animals. So much has to change. I wish I were a lawyer specializing in animal rights. If that would make a difference, I don't know. It's great to try to help animals but I really feel that it's the laws that need to change to make any real significant difference.
