It's been quite a year.  I know most people would do a journal like this at the end of the year, but my year started about this time.  Last year, at this time, I went home to a house with now heat.  No hot water.  No stove to cook on.  My gas had been cut off because I couldn't pay the bill.  And wouldn't you know, a cold front had come in making Thanksgiving a whole lot colder than normal.  The only heat for the house was a small electric space heater and an electric blanket.  Cooking was done in a microwave and on a hot plate.  No fancy dinner.  It was Romaine noodles.  There were no medicines because I couldn't afford them.  And I was going blind.  My left eye was gone and my right eye was fogging up.  I could barely see to do my job.  I had to cash in my company retirement just to catch up on the bills and put food on the table.  Going to my regular doctor was out of the question, so I went to the county clinic.  They got me in touch with a doctor who took me without me paying.  He said my left eye had a severe cataract and the right eye was foggy because of high blood pressure.  He gave me some medicine at no charge.  Then he contacted an eye doctor who said he would see me.  Then things started going right.  I got a better paying position with the company  We found out that my company insurance would cover the cataract surgery in full.  So, the first surgery was done, then the other within 2 months.   The surgeries left me with 20/30 vision in my left eye and 20/20 in my right.  I only need cheap reading glasses, now  The first doctor I'd seen moved to another town, so I got a new doctor,,,a nice lady who was deeply concerned about me.  It was she that diagnosed my type 2 diabetes.  It was she that showed me how I could change my diet and put me on a miracle drug.  And it was she who encouraged me with every visit.  And it was she who celebrated with me when my A1C test result came back.  And, I found this place.  A place where people love each other even though they have never met in person.  A place were support and acceptance is given without question.  A place of security and comfort.  I truely believe God led me to this place and I'm so glad He did.  DS and my loving friends here have been my rock.  It's been quite a year.  A year I will never forget.  Bless you all.
