A wrench in the plan!
My excitement about my impending lap took a complete nosedive about 30 minutes after I posted my last entry.
I hate my job. I used to work for an amazing company where you could really have a career. But then we were bought out by a huge company...let's just say they are like the Wal-Mart of the medical laboratory world. They essentially took what wasn't broken and destroyed it beyond recognition. The last straw was promoting a complete idiot to the supervisor of my department...she has been with us for nearly a year and I really think that if you asked her to describe what our group does, she wouldn't be able to tell you.
Needless to say I have been seriously looking for a new job since November. I have now been on 5 interviews which is pretty good considering how bad things are right now. My last interview was for my dream job last Friday, and I honestly never thought in a million years I would get it. But they called me back right after I posted my last entry, and I'm going in for a second interview tomorrow! They are looking to hire someone immediately and I guess they really, really liked me.
What a freaking conundrum...on one hand, this is my absolute DREAM job. The pay is WAY better, the benefits are WAY better, and I'm 99% sure the insurance they offer covers IVF which is obviously a HUUUUGE benefit for me. But here's the problem:
Your health insurance doesn't kick in for sixty long, long days.
This means, best case scenario, if I get the job I won't have insurance until July 1...more likely August 1. Obviously my lap is scheduled for May 9. I could get Cobra but I really can't afford it out of pocket and why bother paying my deductible for insurance that I won't even have in a few weeks anymore? Plus then I would have to deal with the embarrassment of taking a whole 11 days off when I've barely been there long enough for people to know my name.
Basically, if I get the job, I will have to reschedule my lap for late summer. I really, really don't want to do that...but if I get the job, I will also want to put my TTC on hold for a little bit until I can get myself situated. I'm more concerned about living in pain...I mean, I've done it my whole life, but when there's a light at the end of the tunnel that keeps getting smaller instead of bigger, it's easy to get really discouraged.
Part of me is hoping that I don't get the job just so I can have my lap sooner...and I'm mad at myself for that.
And I'm obviously getting ahead of myself. I don't have the job yet, and there's a fantastic chance that I won't get it. Ugh. I'm just frustrated!!!

Could you possibly have your lap done sooner? It would suck to pay your deductible and then get new insurance with a new job. But if you could get your lap in ASAP, then maybe it would be worth it.
Good luck!
I agree with LMWT! Have the best of both worlds! We all know how much waiting sucks and that seems like the only thing we ever do.
