A visit with my granddaughter
My granddaughter Cevyn was here to visit for 10 days. She is a beautiful 14 year old. I worry because she does not express her emotions. I, on the other hand, cry and cry. The counselor said it was good that I cry in front of her.
We had a lovely time visiting and shopping. But I just couldn't help remembering our other 'back to school' shopping sprees with Lisa. She made a trip to the mall an event.
Cevyn just called to say her flight landed safely. I am relieved but sad that I won't be seeing her for awhile. She will be starting high school next month and her mum won't be there to support her. Her dad loves her but doesn't understand girls or the needs of teens. Maybe I am overreacting but I worry.
I also can't get over the anxiety and desperate feelings. I feel like a first class basket case.

I totally understand...I am remembering 2 years ago when Jenn was sick and we went shopping to get .Alli ready to go back to school it was Jenns last outing and she tired so easily but she wanted to take her baby out
It is too bad you are so far away from her, that is my one consolation that Jenns kids are right here in town and I get to see them often
You may be a basket case, but make sure that basket is large enought for all of us to be in it with you my friend...you are not alone !

The memeories you made shopping this time will last forever, for both of you, new memeories,,that\'s nice, Nora
So delighted that you had that precious time together. Of course you are concerned as that goes with the territory. Keep that close connection and perhaps another mother of one of her close friends will take her under her wing too. I believe it takes a village to raise our children hope she finds so much love and care under their wing too. Sending you some peace today and so much understanding. Love, Joanie
I know Cevyn will treasure the memory of this year\'s mall expedition as she does the others she had with her Mom. Somehow her need for Mom advice with all of the girl teen issues that will arise will be filled ~ whether through another Mom, as Joanie says, or email/phone/Skype communications with you.
Sending love and hugs ~ Debbie
How neat that you were able to spend time with your precious granddaughter. I know that it was good for both of you. She and her dad can find their way through this with your help...she is only a phone call away. It is so normal to feel anxious and sad...this is a long, tough road. Baby steps...baby steps. Love and hugs to you...Karen
Thank you all for the support. It helps to know that others are walking in the same shoes. My friends are phenomenal but they do not really understand.
It seems you are building a solid relationship with your granddaughter as well as wonderful memories. Seeing you be open with your emotions shows her that it is acceptable for her to show hers. You are providing a valuable role model. Sandi
