A Very Memorable Summer

    Last April, I came close to death due to an illness. I had constant vomiting for five days straight, I could not even keep down water. I became so dehydrated that my liver and kidneys started to shut down, causing me blindness every 2-3 minutes while I was driving to CVS to pick up my prescription nausea pills that were prescribed to me at the St. Vincent Urgent Care. I am surprised I did not crash my car or get pulled over by the police from swerving around on the road. I passed out at CVS and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. They never found out what was wrong, but I was kept at the hospital for several days to get my organs to start working correctly again. It took me a long time to get myself back to normal, and I am not completely better yet. I have done some damage to my stomach due to the vomiting, so I feel nauseated a lot and cannot eat normally now. I have dropped down nearly 20 pounds. My GI doctor is going to help me get well again.

    I never thought I was going to be well again, but I am so happy that I lived through this. My summer has been fantastic. I spent lots of time with my best friends, Mary and Olivia, and I started dating the love of my life. I have tried to make the most out of this summer, and I will say that it has been a success. Words cannot explain how thankful I am to be alive. Yes, sometimes things are still tough for me. I am a human being and I have my down times, just like everyone else. But, I would not trade my life for anything in the world. College starts on Monday, so I am looking forward to my classes and to work towards my goal of becoming a Social Worker.
