A Very Big Thank You
I just wanted to send thanks and hugs to ALL who have been there with support and encouragement throughout everything. Is too many hugs and thanks to send so you all get one big one. (smiling here)
Today is the first day I actually got to breathe and not have a zillion calls to make . I have actually gotten some things done and sorted through a ton of mail I left pile up. There was a letter stating that we did not respond when an IRS case worker assigned to our case tried to contact us. We never were contacted. Every time I told Dave to try to contact them he said not to worry if they really want to come after us they will call. They didn't . So now I get a letter from an IRS attorney saying we (ME) owe the full amt. Several thousand dollars. (Did not realize- forgot- that a smaller chunk of his 401 k was put in an acct to draw out as we needed. That was not taxed before or as it came out. ) They added that amt to his income from SSDI and it put him up so he owed full amt for tax.
I had actually spoken with and gotten 2 creditors to settle for lesser amts to help us get out of debt sooner--- and now the damn IRS is scarfing that money back up and then some. A friend just told me to contact our state rep and see if they can help. Said they did help her mom when she had an issue with them a year or so ago. (All this was from 2016) I am still trying to get debt paid up and this will not help.
Did some cleaning, but now have the house ripped apart to find pictures for his service. I had one or two nice big ones that I now can't find. Am gathering smaller ones for a collage to put by his ashes. I am a mess. I alos am trying to learn to breathe first, then deal with things. There have been so many times I get excited about something-- when I stop and think and let it sink in, is usually ok. AS many would say--- I need to chill.
Enough of my updated babble. Thank you again.
Kim

the IRS is a flexible outfit and if you talk they will allow you to make payments rather than them doing other adverse actions.....
keep chin up.....and thinking about you during this hard time is something all of us are surely doing and we want you to know that....hugs bil
Take a deep breath--you are almost there. I remember when my husband died--so many details to care for. But it all got done and then things got easier. I hope the memorial service will bring you some closure. I attended one today, a friend who had a very tough life. I'm glad we know he's in Heaven and free now of pain. May the Lord bring you strength and comfort, justice from the IRS, and rest when this is all over. Sending prayers.
Thank you. :)
Hugs my friend. Ask the IRS to work out a deal that will not cause too much financial strain. In Canada, they are pretty good about that if you are truthful about things. You will be fine. One day at a time, my friend
Keep pushing forward. You’re doing great in the face of all this.
Thinking of you! Take a deep breath and know that you have all of us here to lean on and support you during this difficult time. As the others have stated, I’m sure you can work something out with the IRS that will be manageable for you. Sending you big hugs!
Hang in there Kim. You are a strong woman and I know you will get through all of this. Preparing for a funeral and all the things needed before and after can seem overwhelming but, just take your time, think things through and I am sure you will be ok,. I am here if you need me. That's what true friends are for.
ANYTIME!!! I know how much it means to you, that’s one of the many things I love about you:)
We are all here for you. Hang in there. It’s different with a spouse maybe, but I just went through this a few months ago with preparing for my mom’s service. You look for things you can’t find, like photos, you want to make everything nice and you are also trying to get your head around everything too. I felt like I was constantly running around. It all somehow gets done. Call the IRS. They should be able to work something out with you.
It’s ok. Take moments to just reset if needed.
Kim a lot of emotions racing at this time....you cannot do it all at once...Prioritize and take your most important issues and address them in the order of importance. Stay grounded don't look to far ahead this will take you time....You will get advise from many people, listen and then proceed with what you think is best for you. You are vulnerable at this time and their are many vultures out there who look for an easy prey. I pray you do not fall victim to them. God Bless.. Ron
