A Tour

I thought it might be time to give yall an idea of where I live.  It's an apartment complex operated by the Salvation Army and is primarily a home for senior citizens and some with disabilities that won't allow them to live in a house or a "normal" apartment.  From the street, it looks like a regular apartment complex with each apartment having an outdoor patio.  But it hides a complex set-up.  As you enter the front door, you see the offices, a dining room, used for meals on wheels three times a week, potluck dinners, and parties.  There's a full service kitchen that hasn't been used since I got here.  Passed the kitchen and around the corner, there's a laundry room.  One of three in the complex.  Passed the laundry and around the corner a hall accessing the apartments on the right side of the building.  These are nice, large apartments that go with the patios.  At the end of the hall is a closed door that goes to the stairwell.  Now try not to get lost because we're entering the twilight zone.  Although we've been at ground level, or so we thought, we're leaving the SECOND floor and going, through the door on the other side of the stairs, to the THIRD floor of another, very different complex!  This complex, although connected to the first, has smaller apartments and no patios.  After going through a reading area, we pass by another laundry.  We turn left and about a hundred feet down the hall is my apartment  This part has a different address than the front and a different entrance.  Now, I'll get you really lost.  My apartment is right around the corner from the elevator which is nice when I have to take Kit out to do his thing.  He does it in the courtyard on the second floor of my complex.  When you look across the courtyard, you see the first floor of the front part!  We have to take the elevator down to the first floor of my part where you'll find another dining room and kitchen, the mail slots, and a commons area with chairs, tables, and apartments.  My part has four floors, while the front part has only three.  You cannot get from the first floor of my part to the first floor of the front part without taking the elevator to the second floor of my part.  The land where the complexes were built was slanted to the back, so they adapted.  While my apartment is about a third the size of the house where I lived, the conveniences of not having to drive to do the laundry or pay the rent, and the walk to take Kit out are slowly outweighing the lack of space.  Home you didn't get lost.  You wouldn't be the first.

I\'m glad that you and Kit are settling in to your new place and not too far from the elevator and have more conveniences than before. I must admit that I was lost before we got to the 2nd floor or was it the 1st? But I enjoyed the tour! Hugs to you both!
