A Surprise Party!

Monday, October 12, 2009 - 9:30 AM   Every now and then, things seem to go just right. It does not happen very often, but when it does, I am happy about it. That's the way it was last week.   Although I was dreading it, my birthday came upon me before I was ready. It usually creeps up, but the older I get, the faster it comes around. The knowledge that in a day or two my age was going to increase by yet another year, somehow managed to put me in a rotten mood. That did not surprise me too much because I've become used to it throughout the years. What made it bearable was that this year my friends and other members here at Daily Strength practically threw an online surprise party for me -- something that I never would have expected.   Today I want to thank everyone who participated in that event. I also want to send special thanks to my DS friend of three years, Weebs, for her thoughtfulness, kind words, and permitting me the honor of being her friend throughout these years. How she has been able to put up with me during this time, I will never know, but I am extremely grateful to her for many things, not the least of which is her continuing friendship!   Now that the niceties are out of the way, I suppose that I should probably point out that all of my many birthday gifts, and cake and ice cream, have not yet arrived. I wonder what could have happened to them.  LOL!   Many thanks to those of you who helped me have a wonderful day.

I had a chocolate macadamia nut tart on your B-day. It was one of the best tarts I\'ve ever eaten. In my top 5 now, for sure.

Ahhh...I am glad you had such a great time with your birthday this year.
You are loved and admired by many.
You do deserve the very best in life.
I hope you get it all.
If I had your address, a cake would be on the way.
I would make sure it would not be one baked by me...that would end the friendship for sure !!

Best not to mention my address in connection with my getting a cake, or you just might regret your words. lol
