A Super Duper Scale

I MAY BE TELLING YOU SOMETHING YOU ALREADY KNOW, IF SO, PARDON ME.I RECENTLY DISCOVERED THERE IS A SCALE PUT OUT BY THE CURVES PEOPLE.  IT GIVES YOUR DIGITAL WEIGHT, YOUR PERCENTAGE OF BODY FAT, YOUR POUNDS THAT ARE FLUID, AND THE WEIGHT OF YOUR BONES!!! I WOULD LOVE TO BUY IT WHEN I CAN AFFORD IT.THE MOST COMMON COMMENT ON HERE IS DANG THAT SCALE, IT WENT UP, OR IT STAYS THE SAME, EVEN THOUGH I'M DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT.  IF WE HAD THE CURVES SCALE, WE COULD AT LEAST KNOW IF OUR FLUID CONTENT WENT UP, OR OUR FAT PERCENTAGE WENT DOWN, OR ARE WE LOSING BONE MASS, ETC.\BECAUSE THE SCALE ISN'T GOING DOWN, I FEEL SOMETIMES LIKE I'M "FAILING'.  BUT MY PAJAMAS, UNDERWEAR, ETC. ARE LOOSE, MY BELLY IS DOWN, AND I KNOW I'M MAKING PROGRESS.BECAUSE I WANT THE SCALE TO GO DOWN, I AM SHAVING OFF A FEW MORE POINTS FROM MY DAILY TOTAL (WEIGHT WATCHERS). I SUCCEEDED IN DOING THAT, AND TONIGHT I'M SO TIRED IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY.

Don\'t really know why we need to know all that! What would you change if just say you fluid content was up? Drop salt? I really doubt it can tell you about bone mass. Like you say you have not seen it on the scale but you are seeing it in your clothes. I say you are doing OK!

Hugs!

You asked me, why would we need to know all that? My sister said the same thing! haha. This was my reasoning. Sometimes when we don\'t lose pounds on the scale, we say \"I must be retaining fluid.\" The CURVES scale would tell us whether our fluid weight actually has increased, or whether \"I\'m retaining fluid\" is a rationalization. Also, when we don\'t see the scale going down, but our measurement definitely is, the CURVES scale would tell us whether in fact our PERCENTAGE OF BODY FAT has diminished. Which is what we WANT. We can weigh less, but be losing muscle (bad) or bone mass (bad). And we post-menopausal ladies would be alerted by the CURVES scale if our bones were weighing less. Hotpink67 said what does that scale cost? 40 or more? Yes. Probably closer to 50 with tax. BUT I STILL WANT IT. SOMEDAY.

just remember ....that if you are eating healthy and watching portion sizing and....exercising too.....you are probably losing fat and gaining muscle! muscle....weighs more that fat! a scale isn\'t the only way to judge weight loss and muscle gain! you can see it in \'before and after pics\' and in \'how your clothes fit\' and....also in \'noticing how much easier you can do things now.... than you could before\'! take body measurements(chest, thigh, stomach, butt, etc.) and re-take them again every month! the tape measure.... will show you inches lost! best of luck hun! boomertoo

Yes, I am well aware that muscle weighs more than fat. And unfortunately when we get older, our fat to muscle ratio is quite different. I\'ve been making good progress in measurement and fit of clothing. But the last few days, I am trying to limit calories real low, lower than my allowance, if that\'s what it takes to KNOCK THAT SCALE NUMBER DOWN. Thanks!
