A Silly Love Song

Thanks to everyone here who has shown me such caring, it just brings tears to my eyes.I feel like I have been held in loving arms and comforted by the beautiful people here.I am so incredibly grateful for all of you.  The old song "You Light up my Life" comes to mind.... You light up my lifeYou give me strength to carry on..... I wish I could express how much you all mean to me....but I have to say, coming here has saved my life...and continues to save my life. The last few days, I have felt so overwhelmed, so tired, so stressed out....yeah...you guessed it, I just wanted to go gamble.  Badly.  I could see my "favorite" games....I was reliving my best "wins".  I wanted to go numb out and escape.....forget everything else.... But I didn't. I didn't because I have you.  Your support has made all the difference. I have all the wisdom and strength you all have shared with me.  I have the knowledge of how you've felt when you "slipped".  I know it didn't work for you, and it will never work for me, either.  I know if the desire gets too strong, I can come to you for help.  I want you to know that I am here for you in the same way. Just for today, hand-in-hand with my beloved friends here at ds, I will not gamble. Wishing you all joy and strength, Dianne

Dianne - you are truly walking the walk and it\'s been a tough one too of late .
You have a deep inner strength in you that is so evident. It is a pleasure to be a witness to your life.
Well done my friend on resisting the urges, and that is all they are. Gambling is no longer a part of your life. Thank GOD for that.
Hugs Suzi

D,
You have had it tough here lately, it has been a test and guess what? you pass LOL You mean the world to me too and have helped me get clean and stay that way. Gambling your sorrows away will only cause more sorrow, you know this and I know this. Great job resisting them. This will pass and you will be stronger for the next set of test put before you.
Hugs and keeping it simple.

You have been thru quite a period of trauma. and as I stated to you in a previous email and on the phone, you have handled those situations, with a level head, with grace and with much dignity and sophistication......We are truly blessed to have you in our midst, and I feel honored to have you has my friend.
your strength and dedication to recovery are an inspiration to us all, and I am so proud of you for fighting thru those demonic urges. we\'ve seen many slips among our friends, and the outcome, well, we know from watching them, what it would be.....
Just keep doing this with us, one day at a time, and we\'ll make it.

love and hugs to you my dear friend

Dianne, you are an amazingly strong woman. You have proved that many times over in the time I have known you. You know what is right for you- and you know that gambling is not. I wish there was some way I could ease a little of your pain, but all I can do is be here for you the way you have been for me. Thank you for all your support and encouragement. The fact that you are still thinking of others during these tough times says so much about the woman that you are. I hope you find a little peace soon. Gretchen.

Diane, I admire you so much for the strength you have shown through all you have been through. You are so right, gambling is not the answer, and you know the addiction will try to sneak back in at your most vulnerable time, but you know that and you are thinking it through, and not acting on those urges to escape. We both know how much we would like to escape our current situations, but also know that the last thing we need to do now is to add more grief to the situation by adding self hate to the picture. Just keep doing what you are doing, we are here for you as you have always been here for us. Love ya.
