A sense of humor and healing...

What to do after the chaos abates and the dust settles??  I am actually starting to live again!  My sense of humor and wit has increased ten fold.  Meaningful friendships are beginning to develop.  The kids are adjusting well and really working on self control and learning to listen, not just to me, but to each other.  Slow, yes, but I really think I am enjoying the ride!  After being on the rollercoaster of an abusive relationship, the ride on the monorail is very relaxing!I have faced my biggest fear and learned to over come it.  (Being alone!) I have found I'd rather be alone than to be controlled like a household appliance!  I get to set the daily schedule, make the choices, push the buttons... and life is good.  People ask me if I miss him.  "Yeah," I tell them, "Like a toothache."  The next stupid question they ask is if we'll reconcile.  My answer to that... "I'd rather have a root canal with no novacaine!" I often say that I'd be locked in an assylum if it wasn't for my sense of humor, and I truely believe it is the gift that has kept me sane thru it all.  I like being able to view myself in a new positive manner.  I like having the weight of a miserable marriage lifted from my shoulders... and for the record, I didn't leave him because of a "mid-life crisis" or "primal itch"... damn I hate the random comments and stupid questions... so I slam them with the cold hard truth, mix in a little humor to soften the blow... and walk away with my head held high.  I got both oars in the water this time, and I'm taking the river slowly and carefully!!
