A sad day

I am so sad right now.  We got to Fresno, California after visiting the Sequoia National Park.  When I got here I read a message from my niece asking me to call her asap.  I knew what the news was going to be.  My brother died this afternoon.  He had been in the hospital and was discharged to his nursing home.  His blood pressure was fluctuating dramatically.  He died shortly after my nephew got there.  I assume he had a stroke or massive heart attack.
Although he was not in good health, it is still so sad - he was a gentle soul who never said a harsh word about anyone.  He never married.  He was an avid outdoors man who loved hunting, fishing and cross country skiing.  I used to tease him "You will never find a woman in the bush".  He never did but had lifelong friends who kept his life full.  One of my fondest memories is a morning when I went fishing with him in the wee hours of the morning.  He fished and I enjoyed the tranquility.  He whispered to me "Marlene look over there".  He was pointing to a mother loon with a baby on her back.  I love loons - they have a haunting call and are very shy birds.
I had a dream 2 nights in a row that Robert died.  As soon as I saw the message from my niece, I know that Robert had gone to be with Lisa.
I will miss him terribly.  I guess it is only fitting that I was vacationing when he died.  Each time I called him, he's say "So where are you going next?".
Lisa:  I know you were there welcoming Uncle Robert.  Now you will enjoy that little grin of his.  You know how much I adored him, as I know that you did.  I miss you always and love you forever.  Mummy

Oh my, so very sorry for this loss. Wish I was there to just give you a big ol hug. You know, Jeremy loved to fish and I like to think that heaven is filled with places to fish. They may find each other and tell some tall fish tales. Love, Angela

I agree that it was fitting that your brother would pass while you were traveling ~ and at a sacred place like Sequoia National Park. He is at peace knowing you were enjoying the great outdoors as he always did.

Much love and condolenses to you today, sweet friend. I am so sorry. I will think of your \"word picture\" of the fishing and the loon. I too love loons, especially the odd sound they make. (((HUG))))

So sorry. Even when you expect loss, you never really fully prepare. I know losing a sibling is like losing some of you. Part of your history, the story of your life leaves too. We treasure the memories even more. I hope those will sustain you in the days ahead and I truly believe that your brother and Lisa are together just waiting for the others when it\'s time. So good to meet you. Much love. Robin
