A rollercoaster ride
I remember describing my divorce as a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Some days up, some days down, and some just a smooth ride. Last night and this morning were definitely the down parts of the ride. This afternoon and evening have been up all the way. Realizing my divorce from alcohol is going to be the same way. We had a fun relationship for a while, but then the road got rocky and finally needed to sever the relationship. Like divorcing my ex-husband, I struggled when I remembered the good days and sometimes really wanted to go back and try to make that relationship work again, over time and with less contact, I didn't miss him anymore. I can now be around him, but not want to be with him. Funny when I look at this process as a divorce from alcohol. Hell, I survived a divorce and came out stronger in the end. If I can survive the divorce of my first great love and the father of my only child, I can survive this one!
Sorry alcohol, it's not you...it's me!!
