A recent break-up

I am going through a recent breakup but it has been a long time coming.  I knew I wasn't happy in May of 2011.  It ended badly.  (We were drinking and he came towards me yelling.)  The police came.  I left - the police took me to a hotel - and haven't been back, just to pack my things in boxes.  There is NO reason for me to miss him or text him.  It was a completely unhealthy relationship.
My father had PTSD and my mother did somethings she should not have done.  He was abusive towards her.  Since then I always promised myself I would never stay in an abusive relationship.
It was a verbally abusive relationship.  I am so sad about it.  Part of me still wants to fix it.
I need to really think on the unhealthy aspects and try not to focus so much on my lonliness.  I am terribly lonely.  In a new place, without a home, without a job, without many friends.  I am starting all over again, again.
I just don't understand why I keep getting into these unhealthy situations.  I can tell it is a pattern.  I want to learn how to break the pattern.  Not attract unhealthy people into my life.  I'm terrified.  I just am.

You are probably doing what you are accostomed to doing. Change takes risks and taking risks takes courage. You build courage by getting support from your friends so you need to work on building a support network.
