A Rather Typical Monday

Well, as can always be determined by my husband having duty section on a Sunday, my Monday was not all I had hoped for.  When he has duty on Sunday, I often find myself with more time on my hands than I normally do...and that's a lot of time!  So I slept, and slept and slept.  Just when I thought I had slept enough, I got up and went to do some errands.  Amazing that a simple trip to the grocery and video store can wear one out so quickly.  If only my body would start behaving all would be well.  After returning home...more sleep.  Even the cats don't sleep as much as I do these days and it ticks me off to no end.  I finally decided to get up around 8 pm Sunday night and attempt some dinner but nothing looked appealing.  Sometimes it's hard to get in the mood for food when I always have to count sodium and counting sodium is a buzz kill when all I really want to do is go and eat not AT the nearest McDonald's...but eat THE ENTIRE McDonald's.  I did manage to find something however and finally made it back to sleep at around 2 am.  My poor husband was lucky to be at work overnight.  He says he doesn't notice my late nights, but I think he does. Monday morning usually starts at around 5 am when he's home.  He gets me up and gives me my first dose of meds for the day (one of 3 doses that I just loath but dutifully take).  Today however I allowed myself the luxury of sleeping until 8 am.  I left myself within the window for my first meds to still allow me to be on track for my other 2 doses.  It's really a pain when a schedule has to be planned around such things, but this is what it has come to.  I did spend most of the day working on a wonderful dinner for my husband.  I love to cook and have almost mastered the art of low sodium cooking and even he agrees that it's yummy.  Slight problem....I get to be so darn hungry from holding back all day because I'm so afraid of going over my sodium limits that by the time dinner rolls around I really am not in the mood to enjoy it.  I try.  Usually I end up with a terrible tummy ache, and worse yet, bloating beyond belief.  My doc says it's from the Lactulose.  I do realize the benefits of it, but hard as I try I still get angry about the side effects.  Also, I have known since I was diagnosed last year that there is something wrong with my gallbladder but the docs won't even touch it until I have a transplant.  Ummm....that could be years and until then I suppose I'm supposed to sit around with terrible tummy pains and sensitivity in the same area...sometimes so bad that it bothers me to have a shirt rub against me.   So, I can have my pity party all alone because to be quite honest, no matter how long I've been sick and on these meds, my husband still doesn't understand exactly what they do to me.  All the mornings of taking a teeny sip of water with my meds ends me up with endless restroom visits (God bless diruetics) and I don't bother to leave the house until noon usually.  If I get a headache I can't just run to the store and buy something to take.  When hubby is sick he gets sick for a few days....about 2 weeks ago he gave me a cold that soon turned itself into a chest cold that I am STILL trying to get over.  The doctors tell me to be patient....I feel like telling them to shove it :)  But I'm far too polite and proper for the likes of that so I deal with it.   Now....I'm taking my kitty cats off to bed (sometimes I sit and talk to them because honestly, in this big lonely world I sometimes find myself in, they don't care if I cry or complain....and it's amazing how nice a soft purring kitty can feel against a sore tummy).  I am thinking that Tuesday will be better, and if it's not, well it can't get be any worse than Monday...and goodness knows if beauty sleep is a real thing then by the time this is all said and done I'll be as beautiful and my idol, Ms. Marilyn Monroe.  Also on the list of things to do tomorrow is compile a list of questions for my doc.  I don't see him again till July so I have plently of time to really make the list from hell....all things I believe he has been a bit lazy in answering for me.   Sleep well and sweetest dreams to each and every blessed soul I have the good fortune of knowing...."Live the life you've imagined.  Go confidently in the direction of your dreams."  Henry David Thoreau
