A Quick Update
Saturday August 22, 2015
This is (I promise!) a brief update from my last Journal entry which read like a paperback novel! Nothing major going on around here and I am glad that it's nearly the end of August. All the year-rounders down here are the same way -- tired of the heat and looking forward to cooler temperatures. Unfortunately, we still have to deal with September...but I'll be gone for 10 days toward the end which is a help.
My plans for my trip are coming together. I have penciled in where I'm going to be staying on what nights and that includes two nights with one of my longest friends out at Deep Creek Lake in the mountains of Western Maryland. Jill and I have known each other since 1976 -- and we have never lost touch for long. I'm really looking forward to having two days with her (and her 2nd husband, Gary). They are lovely folks and true blue friends.
Little Buzzy is growing! It seems the only pictures I post on here are of him, but he's kind of the star of the show right now. Since I am going over to Julie's every day until the 28th to take care of her dog and cat, sometimes I take Buzzy along. He loves her little Italian Greyhound, Maybel, and he also loves being able to explore the big screened-in area around the pool. Took him over today and he played while I bobbed around in the pool for 2 hours. When we got home, he crashed out on the sofa and is still sleeping 3 hours later! But I'm sure he will have his battery re-charged for the "Witching Hour" which begins every night at 10:00 p.m.
Sam and I had a date last Sunday afternoon. I suggested that we meet up at the Bass Pro Shop near Ft. Myers because I have never been to one of those stores and thought it would be fun. It was! We looked at absolutely everything and I had to laugh at the selection of "girly" stuff in each department -- pink camoflauge clothing, pink fishing rods, pink crossbows and even PINK PISTOLS! I wouldn't be caught dead with any of them myself, but it did make us laugh. When we had finished scoping out the entire store, we went into the cafe that's part of it for a drink. Sat there talking again about how we both have an interest in RV travel and said that once the weather cools off, we should spend a day up at the big RV/Travel Trailer dealership just looking around.
I figured it was his turn to call for another date and was happy when he phoned this morning. He asked how my week was and I said "totally uneventful" except that my "team" with the Another Day in Paradise meetup group had won FIRST PRIZE in the Monday night trivia contest. Woo hoo! Anyway he was working today and has an out of town friend lined up for Sunday, but said he would give me a call this coming week and we would figure out something to do to get together. I do like Sam. He's just a really low-key and down-to-earth person; pleasant to be with and a great conversationalist. So we'll see how it goes. I'm not reading anything more into it than friendship at this point and I don't think he is, either. That's fine with me.
Yesterday, my dear friend Richard came down from Bonita Springs to visit (I think he came to visit Buzzy! LOL!) and took me out to lunch. I just love Richard! Of course he asked how things were going with Sam and I filled him in. He says, "Now you KNOW that Skip and I have to meet this guy before you go out with him too many more times." Geez! He's like a protective big brother, but that's ok. He and Skip are two of the most honest and genuine people I have met down here and I would love for them to meet Sam. So maybe if we get together next week, we can meet at my favorite restaurant in Bonita Springs (Buffalo Chips) and Skip & Richard will join us!
Not much else to write about. I've had my Sculpey clay out for over a week and so far haven't touched it. Don't know if I'm suffering from Creative Block or what. I spend way too much time watching television these days. Richard said "If you are watching the History Channel or National Geographic it's ok." So I guess I'm ok. I DID go to the gym twice last week and plan to go at least three times this coming week. I hate it and every month I say I'm going to cancel my membership, but then guilt myself into going. I'm such a mess...
My twin grandkids will turn 15 on Monday. I really can't believe it -- it seems like just the other day they were still little kids. I put cards with some $ in the mail to them and plan to treat them to something nice when I am up there next month. I have missed out on so much of their growing up because of divorce and my dysfunctional daughter. Sometimes I feel bad about moving so far away, but because of my daughter, I didn't get to see them all that much when I was still living up there. Just the way it is, I guess.
All in all, I'm doing ok. Just a little blase right now. This too, shall pass. Take care everyone and keep in touch!
Hugs all around youkathi

It is nice to see one\'s life be, as you say, \"uneventful.\" Pink pistolas! Jeez! I hope that your trip north in September will be exceptionally rewarding and that you have a lot of FUN!
Well, one great thing happened this month: I was made a faculty member of Vietnam National University, the most prestigious university in Viet Nam! I will be teaching Composition: The Argumentative Essay, Western Literature and an Introduction to Philosophy course. I also was asked to play at a very nice place here in Ha Noi, The Hanoi Social Club, and I was even paid for it? It was a great performance and I made sure that people who also played guitar got a piece of the spotlight. The other performer and organizer, Thanh, and I then went out and we hung out at some other places until 3 am. It was a nice outing. I am doing very well here in Ha Noi since I updated my \"look\"! It has been an amazing few months.
I\'m glad things are going so great and uneventful !!! And I am also glad Sam sounds nice but you got guys looking out for you as well !!!
Excellent journal and I\'m happy about your developing relationship with Sam :)
I\'m glad things are going well with Sam--friendship is good. If you have fun and he makes you laugh, even better. The weather us cooling here--finally--so your trip to MD should have good weather. Miss you my friend.
So glad to hear thing are going well, even if uneventful. Glad you are enjoying getting to know Sam. Hope it continues to grow. Stay well. Enjoy your trip & grands next month.
Kathi, you sound so relaxed and content with life. Sam does sound like a nice fellow, as you said, you want to take it easy. That is a good attitude to have. Have fun with the grandkids and enjoy your trip. hugs
You sure have a lot going on for \"nothing eventful!\" Sounds like you\'re getting out, going places and having fun. Good for you.
I\'m spending too much time on my own, in between my volunteer gigs, but I have lovely, cool breezes and 70 degree days to hang out in, so no complaints there. You can return the favor of a weather report in February! LOL.
Who is Buzzy? I\'ve been away for awhile and just trying to read a few journals and see what\'s what whith my DAT friends - and I count you among my besties!
So...you are dating! Atta girl! I like his name....it just sounds so...solid?! When I opened my account on here I rememnber that the twins were 10ish...wow, time flies!
Hope you had a terrific vacay up north! hugs
