A Poem My Daughter Wrote \" Dear Dad \"

Dear Dad,  Look at the life you lead, isn't it sad.  Dear Dad,  Look at all the things you put Mom through, she raised 2 kids and delt with you. Dear Dad,  You ask why I don't call, is it really that bad?  Dear Dad,  Have you ever concidered of what you've done?  Dear Dad,  You made Alcohol your #1.  Dear Dad,  I'am sorry you have to face it too.  Dear Dad,  Just hang in there, Ryan is watching over you.  Dear Dad, I want you to know I love you know matter what.  Dear Dad,  Realize I'am always here and I'm what you've got...... Love you,  Erica

Now, my daughter was almost 15yrs old when her brother died, and I was so into myself from grieving..., these poems that I found, made me realize I have a daughter who needs me, and through the grieving process, it has been hard for us, b/c I always want to talk about Ryan and she doesn\'t..also I wonder if I should give the poems to her father to read or not? I know if I ask Erica that same question, she would say NO..b/c she always has been afraid of him....???KLS

I think that giving the letters to her dad should be up to her...whenever or ifever she wants to. I think that is is such a blessing that you found them and can see how much she loves you and needs you. Knowing this will help you to turn your focus to her and that will be a blessing for you both. Love and hugs...Karen

Maybe when she\'s older, she will feel like she can give them to him. You two are so lucky to have each other to lean on. My family just wants to ignore what has happened. Hug her tight and never let go. XOXO Billye

This is a beautiful poem. First a progression of her anger and loss slowly into forgiveness. i wonder if this was a poem that helped bring closure for her.

I strongly believe Erica should be the one to decide if/when the poem is given to her dad. Kala wrote a long letter to her dad and never sent it. I found it after her accident. I wanted so badly to send it to him, to hurt him. I realized that Kala had a need to \"write\" the letter, but not a need to \"send\" the letter. If she\'d needed/wanted it sent she would have done it. I honor her wishes by not sending it.

How sad that a precious girl has write about love and akcohol all min the same sentenence. I am here sitting alone at night, wishing that I had one of my children left to talk to. I assure you that alcohol would not be on her mind, I miss my sons so very much.I never was blessed with a daughter. I was very close to my step daughter.I loved her very much and we were close, we shared many \"girl\" things that just does not happen with mothers and sons. This young lady wrote from her heart and her heart will show her what to do. I trust in peoples on. It takes a long time to know what to do. Take your time and decide later when and whatb to do,love peggy

Ya, you are right about not giving those poems to her father, without Erica\'s permission......I would of felt horrible doing that behind her back, it would of hurt me more if I did....Thanks to all my friends! XOXO Kelly

hey kelly.. i\'m thinking that you shouldn\'t give him that poem... I know that sometimes you wanna shake people up and say... ***WAKE UP**** WHAT THE HELL ARE YA DOIN\'***.. but that\'s Erica\'s decision at some point she\'ll decide whether she wants to or not... her decision not yours to make... as for her not wanting to talk about Ryan... people grieve differently.. even in the same family... doesn\'t mean they grieve any less .. just that we see it less... or more... hang in there... later bj.
