A new Life Begins
Back in the early spring of this year, I was invited to the home of a family who attends my church. The mother wanted me to talk to her daughter who was 16 and pregnant. I went to their home and sat down with her and her mom. I told her that I did not condone the sin but, I did not condemn the sinner. I told this young lady that this is why sex should be reserved for marriage but, that she wasn't the first one this had happend to nor would she be the last. I told her that I still loved her and that I didn't think any less of her. I also told her that my church families would embrace her with Christian love. I told her to keep attending my church and that I would be there for her ever step of the way. I asked her if the father of the child wanted to be involved in this pregnancy and the responsibuility for the child. She said he did. I told her not to be hurt if he changed his mind and abandoned her, because I had seen this so many times in my 33 years in the Ministry. Just as I had warned her, he abandoned her but, she kept coming to my church and my church people showered here with love and concern. This little teen is 4 ft 7 in tall and her due date was in late Dec. The doctor said it could not wait for a due date, that the baby was too large so Tuesday, Dec. 15th was set as the day fir her C-section delivery. I was there at the Hosp. at 5:35 am and she and her family arrived about 5:50 a. I stayed with her sisters until she was ready to be taken to the delivery room. I then went down and had prayer with her and for her. Her mom went in with her. I told her that Jesus loved her and that I loved her too and, I gave her a big hug. She was scared. She had a beautiful baby boy, weighing 8lbs. 9-1/2 ounces--21-1/2 inches long. I waited until she came out of the delivery room and was being placed in her regular room, I visited with her for a few moments and then, I left. I went back yesterday and saw her and the baby again and took my wife with me. My wife got to hold the baby and he slept the whole time. I notified my church that we would have a baby shower for this young girl and her son. Everyone agreed. This is how we are to share the love of Christ with others. We are to show compassion not condemnation. We are to show love not loathing. We are to share joy, not judgement. I know that this young lady knows that she was wrong in getting pregnant. She didn't need me to brow beat her. I told her I would be with her through it all and I was. I will continue to be with her and her family, no matter what the future holds for them. This is the real me, this is who I am.
