A new day,a new year,and I am still here
Good morning journal, the time is 10:17am;it is a new year, and I am still here.I have been unable to visit with you for two days now,my physical condition and intense pain making it impossible to sit in any one place for too long without moving for relief. I have spent most of the time resting, watching a little television, and searching for answers that could offer me any hope,or reason,to think that I will improve with time and treatment;as of this juncture,I can find none, but I will keep trying, and hoping, for whatever miracle that is required to restore me to the man I was once;if that is indeed possible at all.I remain exceptionally tired, yet I sleep like a drugged man, deep and,for the most part dreamless;I have barely eaten for forty eight hours, and I now enter a third day with no appetite at all.My monumental thirst remains however, even after one and a half liters of bottled water last evening,I needed more liquid.I have no idea how much my liquid intake was for the entire day,but it must have been approximately eight or nine liters, perhaps more, before I finally retired to bed, unable to remain in my chair to welcome in the new year.My wife came into our bedroom at midnight and wished me a happy new year, and I wished her the same,we had a kiss and a warm hug;I think I was asleep before she let me go,for I don't remember her leaving our room;bless her heart though,it meant so much that she took the time.
The whispers in my mind remain, for the most part, silent;but I am aware that they are there. This morning as I awakened,I heard Jeremiah say something, I didn't catch what it was;but I know it was Jeremiah because I heard his name several times. So far,I have heard nothing more, perhaps it was the remnant of a forgotten dream, time will tell.It remains somewhat of a mental struggle to write,I am finding it increasingly difficult to form the words, phrases and sentences,I wish to type;it takes much longer, and tires me greatly, resulting in me becoming exhausted and out of breath. My writing has always been an extension of myself, ever since I was a small boy,it was my way of letting people know how I felt when my tongue could not;to lose that ability now, would distress me greatly.I am gradually beginning to feel ever more imprisoned,by a body and mind which will not respond to my commands at times,it is incredibly frustrating, and most annoying;my hands have robbed me of my dexterity to draw and paint as I once did,my writing is my one last medium of communication,in a world I do not comprehend much any more. However,it is my fervent wish that everyone,no matter where in the world you are, have a joyous, peaceful, and healthy New Year.Happy 2013 my friends behind the screen;and may God bless each and every one of you,as you have blessed me;peace be within us.
