a new day

Hi everyone,  yesterday went good,  he was gone from me for about an hour.  I was getting a little worried and asked the nurse to check on him.  He said he did fine, but he had 2 Zanax in his body.  I think I will only give him one on Wed because he was really wacky for a bit too long.  My daughter Lisa said Mama what are you giving him after he started talking a little "trash" to her.   He later told her he was sorry after he realized what he had said.  hehe  It was mainly what he wanted to do to me!!
Lisa has told me ( she is the nurse) that when she worked in the nursing home the old guys who could barely sit up would still grap her ass when she walked past!  Why am I telling you all this crap, don't know ,  I guess it is the nervous energy I am feeling.
At any rate he will not get two pills on Wednesday, just one.
One of the things the nurse told us was that for the next YEAR Steve could not go outside without a shirt on!! He must wear a tee shirt in the pool,  avoid direct sunlight  and stay under an unbrella when he had to be outside for a period of time.   Heavy sunscreen for him too.  He told her he had to mow the grass so she told him heavy protection for that.  I am so grateful that we have new developments in the fight against cancer.  I firmly believe in research and thats why we raise money for Relay for Life.
I wonder if yall were told the same things about radiation surgery, which is what this is called?
I feel thankful this morning for all of my friends.  I am so glad that I can write to you about all of this.  I pray that each of you can have a good day today.  One without worry and fear.  Gloria I am thinking of you and Tom,  and Meriel and D, and of course Karen.   Ingrid and Ray, and of course the many friends who have lost the special one in your lives.  I try to remember each name as I pray. Becca is not on like she used to be,  I still pray for her and Tim.   I don't want to leave anyone out   , forgive me if I do.  Piper and Bryan also.
I love and care about all of you............
Wanda

Hello Sweetie!

That\'s too funny about Steve talking \"trash\" after two Zanax. Men....one track mines!!! I love your sense of humor.

So happy to learn that the first treatment went well yesterday. How often will Steve be having the radiation and for how long? We\'re all praying that it will continue to well and sock it to this nasty disease.

Keep that beautiful smile and outlet, Wanda. You and Steve still have alot of life ahead.

Hugs,
Ingrid

Wanda...it\'s always encouraging to hear a good report and that Steve still has \"it\"..lol. And you are so right about cancer research..we need to keep them working on all cancer\'s...and there certainly does seem to be more in the development of treatment and cures...hugs, Ellen

Dear Wanda, I\'m glad this first treatment is over...hopefully you\'ll be more relaxed now about this....and we know Steve was \"relaxed\"! M\'s radiation oncologist said that this new radiation is so effective in killing the targeted site that once those tumors are dead, he has seen patient\'s immune system get stronger and do a better job of fighting the cancer in other areas. It was so promising...the only reason it didn\'t work like that for M was because he just had too many tumors in all his vital organs including his brain. But Steve has a great chance at having this treatment work very well for him. At least, that is my prayer. Love you, Linda

I am glad you can laugh about it. All medicines got to Dan, but he and I both got some big laughs out of some of his silly drug induced comments. And all those annoying precautions will be worth the results of kicking the cancer butt. Dan had to avoid sunlight the last 3 years, but he improvised - sunscreen, long sleeves, a big old goofy straw hat...It seemed every treatment brought a whole set of precautions with it.

Hey Wanda
Glad Steve got through it okay. Like Tom, the radiation was the easy part. How many more does he get? Yes, they told my sun worshipping husband all the same things about the sun exposure, and he was not too happy. It kind of makes me laugh - well, wait a minute - you have CANCER - and you\'re ticked off because you can\'t sit in the sun? Huh? For me, staying with sunscreen, hats, umbrellas is de rigeur - I don\'t look good with wrinkles.
As for Xanax, I pilfer Tom\'s supply - it is the only thing getting me through these nights lately. And, I am a person who doesn\'t even take an aspirin. I am so ant-drugs unless absolutely needed! So glad you and he are in good spirits! You rest up too.

That was supposed to be anti-drugs. Boy am I tired. DId Steve have to do a pre-radiation simulation with myelogram and making a \'cradle\' for him to lie in? Just curious, cause that was the hard part for Tom.

Wanda I am so glad to hear that things went well. I can understand the trash talk thing, used to work in home care, and the nurse is right, they may be 98 and can\'t walk see or chew food, but they will grab an ass if they can. Men !!!! I hope that things continue to go well for you two. I still say my prayers for everyone here on the DS site. Have a good week end. Hugs Jane
