I talked to my daughter last night on the phone. She also, has been pushed away my my sons.  She has missed them  also. She had gotten word that my oldest son wanted to see new pictures of her children because he loves and misses them. He talked to her about how much he loves and misses each of them. Then, he talked to her about me.... He told her that he wants to try to have a relationship with me BUT he wants to wait until he thinks things will work, because he's only going to give me 1 chance and he doesn't want me to blow it. Wow! I told her, I will stand firm. I did not walk out of his life, he walked out of mine. I will always have an open door to any of my children, I will never shut them out. When the time is right, God will bring them back to me. I will not go by their little rules they want me to abide by and worry about everything I might say or do that may set them off again. I will not set myself up to be hurt again. I don't deserve anything less then respect from them and will take nothing less. I don't know, for the life of me, why these kids grow up and think they are the parent and have the right to set the rules of how things will be, in order for us to deserve their presence. Anyway, I'm the one and only mother they have and when I'm gone, there will be no second chances for them. Hope they don't blow it!

You are so right not to do just what they want us to do. The strange thing about estrangement is that our EC often feel they have all the power and they will set the rules and conditions. Wrong. We are not to take their abuse and they should be honoring us as their parents. You are so right to stand your ground and let the Lord take over the situation. God bless.
