A Long Day
It has been a while since I journaled. Things have come and gone. Yesterday, I got up at 4 AM to take my hubbs to the surgery center for knee surgery. Talk about the sick taking care of the sick. Anyway, they got him ready and then called me back to sit with him. Then, the anesthesiologist came it. He grab Fred’s chart to review it. Came back in and asked questions. Since Fred has had bilateral pulmonary embolisms, he suggested doing an epidural. The last surgery they tried a spinal and they were unsuccessful. There I sat on my walker seat, when I asked a question. If he has the spinal, is it short acting so he can go home on crutches? One would think that this was a question of somewhat intelligence. The doctor smarted off saying, “Well of course you won’t be able to carry him home” He never answered my question. Fred looked at me and I must have looked like I was getting ready to climb over his bed rails to get at that doctor. Fred gave permission to try a spinal. Surgery went well and thirty minutes later Fred’s ortho doc came out with pictures of Fred’s knee. He had another torn cartilage along with bone spurs. No wonder he was in pain! I thought everything was going to plan. Called Fred’s brother to come and help me get him home. Fred on crutches and me in a walker. We waited for one and a half hours and still no word on Fred. Something’s wrong. We should be home by now. I waddled up to the info desk and asked them to check on Fred. They did. Fred did have the spinal. If someone had told me that then I would not have worried. Forty-five minutes later, he came home

Welp, I see that you have met a few Dr. Stupids yourself Darlene! I know you\'ve been keeping up with my ridiculous medical misadventures lately...it\'s getting scary out there!!
Fortuantely Fred is home in one piece. God bless the man!! I think you should have jumped across the bed and slapped the doctor...sorry, I can\'t deal with these people and their attitudes anymore..whatever happened to \"Do no harm?\"\"\"\"
UGH...... I hear ya!
Yes, indeed, some of these docs deserve to be slapped, like Darla said, lol!! I just fired my doc of 20 plus years because his on-again off-again bedside manner became too obnoxious. This guy had the \"male anatomy\" to ask me how I liked a particular movie that was playing. I responded that I really liked it, realizing that he had been in the same theater as me. He then had the \"male anatomy\" to ask me if I shared my popcorn with my husband or if I ate it all myself!! Mind you this guy had told me at my last visit that I wouldn\'t be able to lose weight successfully until I was off of the Prednisone. UNBELIEVABLE!! So, he doesn\'t know it yet, but my whole family is no longer going to him.
I had continued to go to him over the years despite his lacking social graces because he is a nationally known asthma specialist. Well my asthma only flares when I catch a really bad cold, which hasn\'t happened since I\'ve been sick, so adios to him!!! Plus, right before he was rude to me, he had been rude to my 22 year old daughter about her weight. So, my family is going to another family doc and I\'m seeing a internist that my mom recommended.
I\'m really glad that things wound up being okay. You sure didn\'t need the extra BS, you have enough going on already!
NEXT TIME VAULT THE BED AND DECK OUT THE DOC DAR THEN CALM DOWN AND SAY THE DOC FAINTED BUNCH OF QUACKS WHO ARE TAKING THAT SUPPOSED OATH. GALE
