I need to carry on

Tonight I held a pizza bake off
With all of our friends

It felt good to have the house full again
Even though I was aware the whole time that you weren’t there
But you were
We talked about you and shared memories
And it was okay
We laughed, we talked we made plans
We cleaned up
Taking over your job
Everyone left feeling good
I want to hold on to that feeling
For a little while
Until missing you sets in with that twinge of pain
That makes me sad
