A Little Harsh but needs to be said...

Dear Journal,
I have noticed through out the past couple of weeks here on DS,that many many people have nothing but negative thoughts, post, journals etc..... so it needs to be said and I understand if people delete me as a friend after reading this...
PEOPLE IS LIFE REALLY THAT BAD?!?!?!?
I mean seriously, most of us here are either going thru or have gone thru a divorce,my self included(going thru a divorce)......but its a choice we made, just like it was a choice to get married, its painful yes especially after 20 some odd yrs...however  ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!!! it happens people change and grow apart for whatever reason.......I am divorcing becuz he no longer makes me happy,he is a mental abuser ,and i refuse to put up with it anymore.....I am a good person with faults of course(dont we all).......that being said I choose happiness above all else.
What I am trying to say here is life does go on.......
If the alarm goes off and you wake up thats a blessing....
If you go grab a cup of coffee and the birds are singing and the sun is out, thats a blessing.
If your children (no matter the age) either call or just tell you they love you, thats a blessing.
If your pets (dogs and cats alike) meet you at the door and jump up and down and give kisses thats a blessing.
Yes we all have struggles and issues and yes crying is part of it....
But I would rather count all my blessings in life, and just deal with the issues 1 by 1,and in the long run those issues may just turn into a blessing.
BE HAPPY PEOPLE,LIFE IS WAY TO SHORT NOT TO BE.............

I have to agree with you, Anta. I joined DS to get support about my breakup, and coming on here makes me more and more depressed with all the sadness. Maybe I\'m just not coming across the \"I feel better now\" stories, but sure wish there was more of them! Try to think of a happy thing each day!!

ANTARESMOM:
I understand where you are coming from, however, when some folks find this group they are still in that horrible early stage of realizing their marriage is over. I\'m sure you will agree that it is a PROCESS -- and, IN MOST CASES, working through the anger and negativity is part of that process.
Most of us who are far beyond the final divorce are fairly positive and use the wisdom of our experience and share the positive aspects of our new lives after divorce to try to get the newcomers over that first hump. Sometimes we see the results of our efforts. Other times, we don\'t. If within a reasonable time frame, the newcomers\' attitude seems unchanged, most of us recommend therapy.
But the point I\'m trying to make here is this: We ALL have a CHOICE! If the negativity gets to us, we can press that IGNORE button or UNFRIEND the member who \"brings us down.\"
CATHLEENND:
I\'m not sure that anyone in this group has posted a discussion topic with that title, but if you read the profiles, most of the long-time members of this particular group share how our lives have changed FOR THE BETTER since the divorce was final. I am just one of these! I knew nothing about Daily Strength until nearly 3 years ago -- at that time, my divorce had been final for over 18 months so it made a huge difference in the kind of responses I have made to others\' queries.

TO BOTH OF YOU -- if you are finding this particular group too maudlin for where you are in YOUR healing, perhaps you would enjoy My New Life After Divorce or Healthy Relationships better. Just a suggestion!

Kathi just for the knowledge I am still going thru the process of my divorce thank you,and its not like i dont understand the ups and downs of it all,I UNDERSTAND more than you think, however I just think some people are treating this as a disease, its not a disease, its a tragedy yes,but it happens...as my title says i know its harsh but it needed to be said....everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and i thank you for yours.

I think I\'m one of those people who has nothing but negative things to say. I really am trying, though. Life is a struggle each day, but I\'m still here, still fighting. I guess that counts for something.

If you want to unfriend me, I totally understand.

I understand what you are saying. Those little signs of normality and happiness keep me going on and I suspect the same thing happens to everybody else. I know is depressive to read such terrible stories but, is in the middle of the crisis when you need more help and this is the place to vent. I have really good friends ready and willing to listen to me but I got to the point where I felt embarass to talk to them because the reaction is ... I know he is crazy and abusive then just leave. I can\'t explain to them because they don\'t have a point of reference, they don\'t understand why is so difficult to leave.
