A little elderly humor :)
This doesn't really apply to me. I have the dog all trained, so that if I drop something, the dog will pick it up for me....but the hard part is getting him to give it back to me. I always have to bribe him with a treat so I try to be more careful and not drop stuff.

Oh, this made me laugh so hard my sides that are already sore from coughing, really ached. Worth it, though!
I have used the tongs to pick up stuff off the floor just so I wouldn't step on them-and, yes, it becomes "do we use this or can we heave it ho".
Mid, If I have been on my feet all day, I don't want to bend over for anything. I know what you mean and I need to get me one of those.
