a little bit of everything
We laid my sister in law to rest yesterday. What is it about a tragedy that brings out the worst in some people and the best in others? You would think that everyone would pull together at a time like this.....
some background,
my MIL is estranged from the family (her choice) and my hubby's oldest brother (they are cut from the same cloth). My MIL called my hubby the other night to harp at him that she didn't know anything about my SIL being sick (a lie, his other brother told her). Then she had her sister call BIL and ask if it would be okay for his mother to attend the funeral, like he really needed this on top of everything else.
she did attend the funeral, and left before having to see or speak to anyone.....almost all of her grandchildren were there, and she couldn't even say hello.
The funeral was very touching and very sad. She had a very nice send off, a good cry and some good laughs. She was a wonderful person.
So this morning, I said goodbye to my daughter.....she is headed back to Toronto. My son and I had a nice breakfast and I was catching up on emails and facebook......and playing some games....lol. My BIL calls and asks me if I had told a family friend that the funeral was private and for family only????? It seems she had spoken to one of my nephews and said that was why she wasnt at the funeral......WTH! If she didnt have the balls to show up, why blame me? I spoke to her for a minute at the visitation, did she think that my BIL wouldnt question me about it? Why do this to him, why not just own up to not being able to go.
I dont understand people.....what happened to doing what was right, no one likes going to funerals. And why bring other people into your lies. I felt so bad for my BIL having to deal with other peoples crap, when he has sooo much on his plate right now. I just hope all this stuff settles down, and the people involved just grow up!
I do get to spend some time with my son.....he is here until friday, or longer depending on the weather.
I hope everyone is safe and sound from Sandy, we lost power twice this week, and I dont think it had anything to do with the storm! the neighbour two doors down had his shed blow over into the next door neighbours backyard, that seems to be the worst in our neibourhood.....I havent been out anywhere yet. A few friends have put up pictures....mostly the same type of things, patio furniture blown around.....that sort of thing.

It really is odd the way certain situations in life actually do seem to bring out extremes in people & I think we could ponder it forever & never really understand why. I wonder though if when emotions are really pushed to overload & people are letting their hearts take total control then it\'s a bad bad thing. But alas we are human.
I think whats important is that you stay true to your heart & soul. Don\'t let others like that drag you down to where they are at that time in life.
Sorry for your loss! Glad you got extra time with your son. Life is too short to worry about the \'family friend\', praying for the best for your BIL . Glad you fared fine with Sandy. Loved you pics especially the puppies. The thong man will probably give me nightmares :/!
I too am sorry about the loss of your SIL and having to deal with MIL\'s drama.ugh. Its good that there is healthy open communication within most of your family...so that in times like these when one person acts out and blames/lies,this action is seen for what it is...Not the Truth.
