A little about me.
I'm 38, happily married and mother of four children. My pancreatitis journey began in February 2016. I walked into the ER thinking I had eaten some really bad Chinese food. I delt with the pain for 5 days until I couldn't get rid of my pain. I tried all the home remedies I could, Gas-X, Pepto, teas, nothing worked. I had no idea it was my pancreas. That day my lipase were at 1495!!! I was yellow, pale, couldn't eat or drink and I was in severe pain. Since then, I've had four hospitalizations. It's been an on going battle to stay out of the hospital and to stay off pain meds. I completely changed my diet. No more alcohol. I will never eat chinese food, ever! I've lost only 20 pounds, in one year, but am working on losing another 15. The most horrible thing that I have learned is that, there are many doctors who don't understand this kind of pain, especially because they can't fix it. They either think you a drug seeker or just want attention. It's horrible, why would anyone want to fake this is crazy? I was hospitalized two weeks ago, with my lipase at 1492. Gosh, I thought I was done. My blood pressure was so low, I was so pale, and cold, bodyaches, chills and had severe nausea with the pain. I'm coming back to life, slowly but surely. I'm still here. I'm learning how to listen to my body, learning what foods are safe, what foods are dangerous for me. The best advice is to listen to your body, only you can decide what you put in your mouth. Whatever works for me might not work for you. Play close attention. Keeping a food journal is a good idea.

We are a lot alike! That sounds like my story... my prayers go out to you, my #s were in the 1800s the first time I went to the ER I thought It was the end of me.i have been in and out of the hospital several times since then, the last time I was there they treated me like I was there seeking drugs! If I would have had more strength I would've walked out I was never more humiliated in my life. I have now decided to stay at home no matter how painful it gets I will only go to the emergency room under extreme conditions I change my diet to a low-fat diet I only eat once a day around 4 PM taking my Creon before meals really helps break my food down my biggest problem is staying hydrated.my hopes and prayers go out to you I hope you can find a happy medium I'm still searching.
Thank you!! Thank you for your encouragement. Today was a good day. I was able to eat without pain. Amazing how food can become your worst enemy. Really?? D.Crocket. You eat once a day? I was told to eat small meals through out the day. February 19th will be my first year dealing with Pancreatitis. I guess I'm still learning how to deal with this horrible disease.
